IAP Drug Formulary - Editorial
Dr T U Sukumaran - IAP President 2011
Dear colleagues,

I am extremely happy that the IAP Drug Formulary has become popular among pediatricians in our country and is being used by > 5000 of us. It has been maintaining international standards, providing regular quarterly web updates, involving IAP subchapters in submitting IAP Recommendations for Drug Therapy of Pediatric illnesses related to their respective specialty and publishing books like the Infectious Disease Update 2011 and the very handy Pocket Dose Book for Medicines in Children and Adolescents. These very useful add-ons and the Online Desktop and PDA/mobile version of the IAP Drug Formulary have made it a wholesome product which IAP has proudly publicized among all member countries of the International Pediatric Association last year. The formulary has had its activities covered for the last 2 years in the IPA newsletter.

I wish to congratulate and thank Dr Jeeson Unni for his single-minded dedication towards maintaining the International Standard of the IAP Drug Formulary. I request all IAP Sub Specailty Chapter office bearers to regularly contribute their time and expertise to ensure the high quality of the data. Each IAP Sub Chapter needs to appoint a IAP Drug Formulary Convenor to ensure its periodic contribution to the program.

This project of IAP CMIC has gained for it tremendous mileage and publicity. The IAP Cochin Branch has provided the IAP Drug Formulary space in its office since Jan 2010 and is thereby contributing to the growth of this publication. SIDS Solutionz has, according to reports received from Dr Jeeson Unni, been very professional in providing its many pronged services.

We, The Indian Academy of Pediatrics, hope that this publication will help propagate rational pediatric therapeutics.

With best wishes,

Dr T U Sukumaran
National IAP President 2011
